CARIMAC offers master’s programme in social and behaviour change
Application deadline extended to April 30, 2011
The Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) is now accepting applications for the MA in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change.
The programme’s application deadline is April 30, 2011 for enrolment in January 2012.
The MA in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change is a part-time programme that runs for two calendar years. It is open to anyone interested in developing and implementing behaviour change programmes as well as in guiding policy decisions through behaviour change research.
The master’s in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change seeks to open opportunities for students to address global issues, ranging from the environment, climate change and disaster preparedness, responses to the crisis of HIV and AIDS, as well as other social and developmental issues.
“This master’s programme, which is the only one offered in the Caribbean, is innovative, timely and relevant to the needs of the entire region,” said Dr. Anthea Henderson, Lecturer and Coordinator of graduate programmes at CARIMAC.
Since its start in 2004, Communication for Social and Behaviour Change programme has attracted professionals from various backgrounds throughout the English-speaking Caribbean as students.
“The programme offers opportunities to the participants to utilise their expertise as communication specialists, researchers and community organisers, not only locally or regionally, but across the world to effectively drive initiatives that touch the lives of millions,” Dr. Henderson added.
Applicants to the MA in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change must have at least a Second Class Honours Degree from a recognized university, or other academic or professional qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Admissions Committee.
